Mamata Banerjee’s visit to China will open new avenues of trade in Bengal: Chinese Diplomat

Kolkata, Apr 26 (KNN) A Chinese diplomat pinned hope that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to China will lead to state attracting investments and open new avenues of trade.

China’s Consultant General in Kolkata Ma Zhanwu, while addressing an event organized by an industry chamber, said that this visit will greatly promote trade in Bengal.

We have been inviting her for the past 3-4 years, but she will be going this year, he added.

He further said that Chief Ministers from other states would also visit China.

Highlighting the need of such visits in attracting investments he added that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a Chief Minister of Gujarat, visited China 9 times in a bid to promote bilateral trade between China and western states of India.

Speaking at the interactive session organized by Merchants Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ma said that the Gujarat is a best example as many Chinese companies are investing there.

With this visit, more Chinese companies will enter the state, the only need is that government must ensure their support to help investors, he added.

On her visit to China, Banerjee said that she would like to meet industrialists in Shanghai during her visit. (KNN/YV)
