Level playing field in e-commerce market will be ensured: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Jan 23 (KNN) Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has that the e- commerce business in India will be rescued from the shackles of vitiated atmosphere and level playing field in e- commerce market will be ensured to encourage more traders to adopt e-commerce as an additional mode of business, said Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

During a meeting with a delegation of traders' body on Thursday, that a "strenuous exercise" is underway to issue new foreign investment rules.

''The government will address concerns about alleged violations of current rules. The new rules will be issued shortly," Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general of CAIT quoted Goyal as saying.

The Minister further said that the Government stands committed to ensure that no one should dare to violate Laws & Rules and if any one does so, they should be prepared to face the consequences.

''India is the land of established laws and everyone concerned should have to follow rules both in letter & spirit. Hitherto the laws were followed on letter and the element of spirit was missing. In view of such a precarious situation , the Government has given a serious thought  and accordingly the steps will be taken to make e-commerce a lucrative and profitable mode of business and easy access to consumers for good quality of goods coupled with consumer friendly services,'' he added.

According to CAIT, Goyal appreciated the suggestion of theirs for obtaining mandatory registration of each and every e-commerce entity engaged in online transactions of all goods & services through any mode of online business.

Goyal said that the Government is very sensitive towards issues of the traders and the Government is committed to provide ease of doing business as the traders are the real backbone of the economy and at the time of any crisis, the traders are always there.
