On Women’s Day, women entrepreneurs want business friendly environment for women

New Delhi, Mar 8 (KNN) Though women entrepreneurship has been considered as an important source of economic growth but still women represent a minority of all entrepreneurs. They often face discrimination when it comes to starting and growing their business due to limited resources and access to information and networks.

With the world celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, KNN India spoke to President of Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) Telangana Chapter, Lalitha Aluri with regard to challenges and obstacles being faced by women entrepreneurs in India.

While sharing the challenges, she said “The two major challenges that comes in the way of women entrepreneurs are of finance and marketing.”

Marketing is one the most difficult areas faced by entrepreneurs especially women entrepreneurs, she added.

In addition, she pointed that the women face difficulties while selling their products due to lack of marketing platforms in India as they cannot sell their products door to door the way man do.

On asking what kind of assistance and support women entrepreneurs want from government, she though appreciated women empowerment schemes being run by government but besides this demanded various subsidies and schemes for making business friendly environment for women.

It is very important that government provide some technology support and training to women owned Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), she added.

Giving wings to women entrepreneurs, COWE has successfully nurtured large number of women entrepreneurs. It helped women enter the field of entrepreneurship with the support of government.

COWE has signed various MOU’s with different government departments to develop entrepreneurship throughout the country. It has worked with various State and central governments to work on behalf of women entrepreneurs. (KNN/JM)
