India-Afghanistan JWG Reviews Measures to Strengthen Bilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation
New Delhi, Sep 2 (KNN) The India–Afghanistan Joint Working Group (JWG) on Trade, Commerce and Investment held a virtual meeting on September 1, 2026, to review bilateral trade and economic cooperation and discuss measures to facilitate commercial engagement.
The meeting was attended by officials from India and Afghanistan, including representatives from commerce, industry, customs, regulatory authorities and diplomatic missions.
Key issues discussed included trade facilitation, customs cooperation, visa facilitation for Afghan traders, banking and financial cooperation, pharmaceutical and agricultural trade, energy cooperation, investment promotion, tariff concessions, cargo connectivity and port-related matters.
The two sides agreed to pursue follow-up actions on customs and data-sharing, regulatory cooperation in pharmaceuticals and agriculture, trade connectivity, investment promotion and business-to-business engagement.
Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India–Afghanistan trade, commerce and investment ties and maintaining continued institutional engagement on the issues discussed.
