India, US Discuss Nuclear Energy Roadmap, Power Infrastructure For AI And Data Centres

New Delhi, Sep 18 (KNN) India and the US have discussed cooperation on India’s nuclear energy roadmap and power infrastructure requirements for artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing and data centres, as the two countries seek to deepen energy collaboration.

Union Power Minister Manohar Lal held discussions with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright in Houston, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to cooperation under the US-India Energy Security Partnership.

Focus On Clean Energy, Digital Infrastructure

The talks covered clean energy, resilient power infrastructure and emerging technologies, with reliable electricity supply becoming increasingly important as India expands its digital economy and computing capacity.

The discussions also point to a growing policy focus on aligning clean and reliable baseload power with the electricity requirements of AI and data-centre infrastructure, reported Economic Times.

India, Canada Explore Offshore Energy Cooperation

Separately, Lal held a bilateral meeting with Corey Hogan, Parliamentary Secretary to Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, during the G20 Energy Abundance Working Group meetings.

The two sides explored potential cooperation in offshore exploration under India’s Samudra Manthan scheme, along with energy efficiency and low-emission technologies.

India is pursuing a broader strategy of strengthening energy security through diversified energy sources, expansion of clean and reliable baseload capacity and faster adoption of emerging technologies.
