India and Seychelles to Swap Scientific Expertise Under New Agricultural Work Plan
New Delhi, Jul 2 (KNN) The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Agriculture Department under Seychelles' Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Blue Economy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in agricultural research, education, capacity building and technology transfer.
The MoU was signed during the Prime Minister's official visit to Seychelles and provides a framework for joint research programmes, exchange of scientists, researchers and students, and sharing of agricultural technologies and best practices.
Both sides also signed a five-year Work Plan (2026–2031) to implement the agreement. The plan focuses on climate-smart agriculture, horticulture, post-harvest management, livestock development, and sustainable food and nutritional security.
The collaboration aims to strengthen institutional linkages, improve agricultural productivity, enhance technical capacity, and support sustainable agricultural development while addressing challenges such as climate change and food security.
