India, US Hold Trade Talks in New Delhi to Advance Bilateral Trade Agreement Negotiations

New Delhi, June 5 (KNN) A delegation from the United States Trade Representative (USTR), led by the Chief Negotiator, visited New Delhi from June 1–4, 2026, to continue discussions on the proposed India–US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA).

The visit follows a joint statement issued by India and the United States on February 7, 2026, in which both countries agreed on a framework for an interim reciprocal trade arrangement while reaffirming their commitment to broader BTA negotiations.

During the four-day engagement, officials from both sides held discussions on a range of trade-related issues, including trade in goods, non-tariff measures, customs procedures, trade facilitation, economic security alignment, and other areas of mutual interest.

According to the government, the discussions focused on advancing negotiations and exploring avenues to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday hinted that trade deal with India would be finalised  soon.

"We will get to a deal because I like your prime minister a lot. I like your prime minister a lot. He is a good friend of mine, and we get along well. We have a good relationship," Trump said in Washington while speaking to reporters.
