Piyush Goyal to Visit UK Ahead of India-UK Trade Pact Rollout
New Delhi, Jun 25 (KNN) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit the United Kingdom from June 25-27 ahead of the implementation of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Double Contribution Convention (DCC).
Both the pacts are scheduled to come into force on July 15.
During the visit, Goyal will hold bilateral talks with UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle to review preparations for implementing the agreements.
Discussions are expected to focus on customs coordination, regulatory alignment, tariff liberalisation commitments, and operational arrangements related to the social security pact for temporary workers.
The two sides will also review market access commitments in services sectors and explore measures to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties as the trade agreement enters its implementation phase.
As part of the visit, Goyal will participate in a series of business and investor engagements in London. He is scheduled to address the opening plenary of the India Global Forum, focusing on opportunities arising from the India-UK trade partnership.
The minister will also meet senior executives from companies including HSBC and Rolls-Royce and take part in discussions hosted by the UK-India Business Council (UKIBC) and Asia House, where trade, investment and manufacturing opportunities under the new agreement will be discussed.
