NIPL, Uzbekistan’s NIPC Partner to Enable UPI Payments Across Uzbekistan

New Delhi, Sep 1 (KNN) NPCI International Payments Ltd. (NIPL) has entered into a commercial agreement with Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre JSC (NIPC) to enable Indian travellers to make merchant payments across Uzbekistan using UPI-enabled applications.

The agreement, signed on August 30, 2026, integrates UPI with Uzbekistan’s national interoperable QR system, UZQR, allowing Indian tourists, business travellers and students to scan UZQR codes and make direct payments from their Indian bank accounts.

The partnership follows approvals from the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, with HUMO designated as NIPL’s authorised partner for cross-border merchant acceptance.

The integration is expected to enable broad UPI acceptance across retail, hospitality and service merchants in Uzbekistan, reducing reliance on cash and international cards.

UPI is currently accepted in 10 countries, including Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Greece.
