Piyush Goyal To Visit Switzerland For Talks on India–EFTA Trade Agreement
New Delhi, Jun 12 (KNN) Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will visit Berne, Switzerland, on June 12-13 for discussions with Swiss government representatives and industry leaders on matters related to trade, investment and implementation of the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).
The visit is part of ongoing engagement between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states—Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland. TEPA, signed in March 2024 and operational since October 2025, provides a framework for trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two sides.
During the visit, Goyal is scheduled to meet Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary for Economic Affairs, and Guy Parmelin, Federal President of Switzerland.
Discussions will cover implementation of TEPA, operational issues arising from the agreement, bilateral trade and investment, and institutional cooperation.
The Minister will also hold meetings with representatives of the Swiss pharmaceutical industry and interact with Swiss companies and investors in Zurich to discuss trade and investment opportunities.
Goyal will be accompanied by senior officials from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The visit has been described by the government as an effort to support implementation of the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement and strengthen economic engagement between India and Switzerland.
