PM Modi Hails Launch Of India-UK Trade Deal As Historic Milestone

New Delhi, Jun 18 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the entry into force of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) from July 15, 2026, describing it as a historic milestone in bilateral relations that will deepen economic engagement between the two countries.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the agreement would significantly boost bilateral trade and investment while creating new opportunities for farmers, workers, MSMEs, startups and innovators across India.

Modi noted that the trade pact would contribute to the country's long-term development goals and support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Referring to his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, the Prime Minister said both leaders were pleased with the momentum being added to India-UK economic ties through the agreement.

The trade pact is expected to strengthen market access, enhance investment flows and expand cooperation across key sectors of the two economies.
