Qatar-India Postal Remittance Service Powered by UPI Launched Through Qatar Post
New Delhi, Aug 17 (KNN) The Qatar-India postal remittance service based on PosTransfer powered by UPI is now available through Qatar Post outlets, enabling customers in Qatar to send funds directly to UPI-enabled bank accounts in India.
The service has been developed through collaboration among Qatar Post, India Post, the Universal Postal Union’s Interconnection Platform (UPU-IP), and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL).
The service became operational in Qatar on August 15, 2026. Sandeep Kumar, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of India in Qatar, visited the Qatar Post outlet at LuLu Mall, Doha, on the occasion and interacted with stakeholders.
Under the service, customers can initiate remittances at Qatar Post outlets by providing the recipient's UPI ID and required identification details.
The recipient must activate the facility for receiving foreign inward remittances through their UPI app. Once activated, the remitted amount is credited to the beneficiary's UPI-enabled bank account.
Transactions can be initiated for amounts between QAR 10 and QAR 4,000, subject to a maximum equivalent of Rs 1 lakh per transaction. A flat service charge of QAR 15 per transaction applies.
The service is aimed at providing the Indian community in Qatar with an accessible channel for sending money to India by combining postal networks with India's UPI infrastructure.
PosTransfer powered by UPI is an international inward remittance service enabled through the integration of UPU-IP with India's UPI ecosystem.
India Post is also working with postal operators in other countries to operationalise additional PosTransfer-powered UPI remittance corridors.
