New Delhi, May 21 (KNN) The Finance Ministry has extended anti-dumping duty on China made nylon tyre cord fabric (NTCF) for one additional year, said a media report.

The anti-dumping duty imposed by the ministry on April 29, 2009 was valid until April 28 this year. It will be applicable until April-28 next year.

Last month, Association of Synthetic Fibre Industry, on behalf of two of its member companies, SRF Ltd and Enka Ltd requested the Designated Authority for review and continuation with enhancement of the anti-dumping duties levied on the subject goods, for another five years on the grounds that the dumping had continued in spite of imposition of antidumping duty on imports of subject goods from China PR and the domestic industry continued to suffer injury on account of dumping by the subject country.

According to the report, this revenue department move follows the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry initiating a sunset review on anti-dumping duty imposed on NTCF imports from China.

NTFC is made from high tenacity continuous filament yarn by twisting and plying. The tyre cord fabric provides the tyre its fundamental properties such as shape, size, load carrying capacity, abrasion resistance, fatigue resistance, etc. (KNN/ST)
