Apparel Training Centre set up in Nigeria to promote skill development in apparel mfg and re-build value chain

New Delhi, July 8 (KNN) Giving an impetus to rebuild the cotton & textile value chain and promote skill development in the sector, an Apparel Training Centre has been established in Kaduna, Nigeria by the Indian Government in partnership with the Government of Nigeria.

The Centre has been set up under the Cotton Technical Assistance Programme (Cotton TAP) for Africa which is being implemented by Department of Commerce, Government of India under 2nd India Africa Forum Summit.

This is a first of its kind centre in Nigeria set up in partnership with Government of Nigeria.

The Centre was inaugurated on 22nd June, 2016.  M K Dwivedi, Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce said that the Centre is aimed to support and catalyse the initiative of the Government of Nigeria in realizing the objectives to rebuild the cotton & textile value chain and address the need for skilled workforce for domestic as well export-oriented apparel industry in the West African region.
