Chinese delegation to visit Gujarat for promotion of trade, investment

Ahmedabad, Nov 10 (KNN) A high level Chinese delegation is visiting Ahmedabad on November 18, 2015 to meet members of India China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC) and members of China India Trade and Investment Centre (CITIC).

The purpose of meeting companies in Gujarat is to promote trade, investment, technology transfer, research, innovations, joint ventures and foreign collaborations in low cost housing, waste water treatment, river cleaning, infrastructure development, railway projects, smart cities and urban transport. It will also discuss the export of import of many products which is already taking place between Gujarat and Guangdong.

They are coming to Gujarat to learn more deeply about the new initiatives of Government of India like Skill India, Make in India, Digital India, Smart (Cities), and Clean (Swachha) and to understand the role which Chinese companies and Chinese Government can play in these initiatives.

The delegation is also looking at setting up an innovation centre in Ahmedabad. They will also visit some large land sites in Gujarat for selection of industrial park.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his recent meeting with visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao, highlighted opportunities in railways, smart cities, infrastructure and urban transport for cooperation between India and China.

After the visit of President of China Xi Jinping to Ahmedabad last year and the visit of Modi with Chief Minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel to China this year, several exchanges between Guangdong Province and Gujarat state have taken place as both are sister states. Recently 110 Chinese companies had visited Ahmedabad with the Governor of Guangdong and signed several MoUs. (KNN Bureau)
