New Delhi, Aug 16 (KNN)  Intermittent power cuts in Llanddona, a village noted for its beach in the Welsh county of Anglesey have been attributed to cows who scratch themselves on equipment, said a BBC report.

That’s what an electricity company ScottishPower told its customers who had been suffering from erratic power supply for a few seconds at a time, affecting computers and other equipment.

The problem seems to exist even after ScottishPower had repaired a broken support for an electricity pole.

According to residents of the Welsh village, for several years, power has been going off for a few seconds and them coming back on.

One of them contacted ScottishPower, only to be told that they thought it was cows scratching against equipment, leading to a temporary cut as the equipment is moved.

Residents feel that the company should buy new equipment rather than blame the cows for the problem that has affected both TVs and cookers.

Having apologised, the power company has now installed fencing around the poles.

It appears that this is not the first time cows have affected electricity supplies to customers of the company in north and mid Wales.

The BBC report stated that last year similar incidents occurred in 80 properties in the region, caused by cows rubbing themselves on wires from a pole and birds perching on top of another pole.  (KNN)
