DGFT restricts rice seed exports from India

New Delhi, Oct 8 (KNN) The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has moved the export of rice of seed quality from ‘Free’ to ’Restricted’ category with immediate effect.

According to the industry, the decision will help curb the export of overseas shipments of basmati rice seeds.

According to the DGFT, the export is permitted under license subject to certain conditions such as submission of a licence to carry on the business of a dealer in seeds; declaration that the export consignment of seeds has been chemically treated and is not fit for human consumption.

Export of wild variety of wheat and paddy seed is restricted, it said. (KNN Bureau)
