Dialogue Forum being held in Kolkata on Nov 25 on trade barriers in SAARC countries

Kolkata, Nov 23 (KNN) The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) is organizing a Public Private Dialogue Forum with Policy Advisory Group on November 25 in order to enhance trade between SAARC nations through SAARC Trade Promotion Network (SAARC TPN).

The Policy Advisory Group will be represented by both private and government officials from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

The objective of the programme is to deliberate on non-tariff barriers as well as other issues pertaining to the border trade with the neighbouring countries and bring them to the notice of government authorities.

N. K. Soren, IRS, Commissioner of Customs (Port and Preventive) will be the Chief Guest at the meeting.

The programme is being organized under a project of SAARC TPN sponsored by German Development Agency (GIZ). The event is being jointly organized with industry bodies FOSMI and EEPC Kolkata.

The SAARC Trade Promotion Network is an international initiative to deepen intra-SAARC trade and cooperation.   The aim of the programme is to boost the inter-regional trade among SAARC nations to go beyond the current 6% of total trade. (KNN Bureau)
