Don’t just look at India as a market to sell Chinese products, come and Make in India: Aruna Sundarajan

New Delhi, Oct 24 (KNN) Rather than looking at India as a market where people would buy products, Chinese companies should Make in India, Aruna Sundarajan, secretary, IT and Electronics Ministry has said.

While speaking on the sidelines of the second India-China mobile phone and accessories manufacturing summit, she said, ““Investing here is welcome because it has spinoff benefits such as jobs, creating value and increasing our manufacturing base, which is very different from dumping Chinese products here.”

Sundarajan in her address further said, “Rather than look at India as a market where people would buy products, Make in India is about changing that, by recognising our competencies; partner with us and Make in India,” she added.

Sundarajan said that safety, security and quality were paramount as there were some products from outside which may have vulnerabilities.

However, she said it’s not fair to take it beyond that, since a number of electronic products are coming from China, including mobile phones.

Sections of people from across the country have started boycotting Chinese products and buying locally produced goods.

During Diwali, the sale of Chinese products like lights, crackers, candles etc were on a boon for past few years. But this year there is a remarkable decrease in its sale.
