Facebook wants to help SMBs find customers & expand biz, says Sandberg

New Delhi, Jul 3 (KNN) About 9, 00,000 small and medium businesses (SMBs) in India have pages on social networking site Facebook, COO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg has said adding that the company wants to help SMBs to find customers and expand their business, in turn helping Facebook grow.

India has the second largest user base after US, with over 100 million users. “We have invested heavily in India,” Sandberg told reporters here yesterday.

“India is one of the biggest bets for us. We are in the process of monetising here,” she added.

Sandberg said that about 900,000 SMBs have pages on Facebook on which they can advertise and reach out to potential customers.

“These pages appear in news feeds of users, which the company claims are personalised,” she said.

Meanwhile, she added that some percentage of these SMBs is paying for the page product which explains a lot of growth here.

“Business here contributes globally,” the visiting COO of Facebook said.

The company (Facebook) wants to enable commerce-help small and medium businesses to find customers and expand their business in turn helping Facebook grow, Sandberg said. (KNN/SD)
