GST - Liberalized FDI policy to attract businesses in the country: DIPP

New Delhi, Oct 31 (KNN) The states play are vital in promoting ease of doing business in the country, also the new reforms by the government including the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and liberalized Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy have proved instrumental in attracting businesses and investments, Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) said.

The secretary made these remarks while addressing the ‘India-Italy CEOs Roundtable’ on ‘Revitalizing the Economic Connect’ organized by FICCI, Ministry of External Affairs and CII.

Abhishek said that in the recent times the government has taken bold steps like GST and liberalized FDI policy to attract investors and transport costs are being halved to make businesses competitive.

Also during the event various dimensions of cooperation between India and Italy were discussed.

Pankaj Patel, President, FICCI & Chairman, Zydus Cadila highlighted the key areas of cooperation between India and Italy like Make in India, Digital India, Skill India and Start up India and Smart Cities. He said that conferences like this should be organized regularly.

Speaking on the avenues of corporation between the countries Michele Scannavini, President, Italian Trade Agency said that this roundtable would strengthen the ties between India and Italy and help explore joint ventures and partnerships.

Also Shobana Kamineni, President, Confederation of Indian Industry said that India is a $2.4 trillion economy which will grow to $4 trillion by 2022 and the India-Italy CEOs roundtable is an important forum to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.  (KNN/AG)
