India And Malawi Strengthen Energy Ties At Bharat Electricity Summit 2026

New Delhi, Mar 20 (KNN) Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar held a bilateral meeting with Malawi's Energy and Mining Minister Jean Mathanga on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 in New Delhi and discussed opportunities to strengthen energy ties between India and the African nation.

The two ministers reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between the two countries and emphasised the importance of strengthening engagement in the energy sector as part of their broader development partnership.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on developments in their respective energy sectors and discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, electricity access, power sector planning, and capacity building.

They also took note of Malawi’s membership in the International Solar Alliance, which was launched by India and France in 2015 to promote solar energy deployment globally.

Both ministers expressed interest in exploring further avenues of collaboration in the energy sector and agreed to continue engagement through institutional and technical exchanges.

The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral ties.
