India and US to renew cooperation in agriculture

New Delhi, May 2 (KNN) India and the US will renew focus on cooperation in agriculture between both countries and initiate immediate steps for renewing the MoU signed in 2010 at the earliest possible with inclusion of new areas in the light of changing requirements and circumstances.

The newly appointed US Ambassador, Richard Verma on Friday called on Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and discussed issues of mutual cooperation and also cooperation for ensuring World Food Security.

Verma put on record his appreciation of the work done by government of India and USAID for the Agriculture Food Security Programme.

Agriculture minister expressed interest in the technology used by USA for weather forecasting for improving preparedness as well as redressal of problems caused by natural calamities.

It was also decided to amicably resolve sanitary and phytosanitary issues between the two countries for enhanced bilateral trade. (KNN/ST)
