India, Egypt to enhance ties in waterways development

New Delhi, August 6 (KNN) Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has called up on the Egyptian Transport Minister, Hany Dahy in Cairo to improve bilateral ties in waterways and port sectors.

Gadkari is in Egypt to represent India at the inaugural ceremony of New Suez Canal on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Egyptian minister Dahy expressed keen interest in India's ambitious plans for infrastructure development.

Both leaders exchanged ideas on innovative financing for PPP projects and use of new technology in areas of green transport and river transport and ports.

The Egyptian river transport authority organised a Nile river cruise for Gadkari and gave him a presentation on the river transport in Nile.

The two ministers also agreed to enhance cooperation between India and Egypt in the area of Inland waterways and port development.

A MoU is scheduled to be signed in this regard. (KNN Bureau)
