New Delhi, Mar 5 (KNN) Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary on Thurdsay held a meeting with Finland's Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen to explore greater bilateral cooperation in the areas of skill development, vocational education and workforce mobility.
The discussions underscored growing alignment between India and Finland in developing resilient and future-ready talent ecosystems.
Both sides examined opportunities to deepen institutional collaboration, strengthen industry linkages and create structured pathways for skilled workforce mobility, with an emphasis on maintaining high standards of training, certification and worker welfare.
The ministers identified complementarities between India’s expanding skilling ecosystem and Finland’s evolving labour market requirements, particularly in healthcare, construction, green technologies and advanced manufacturing.
They highlighted the importance of mutually beneficial mobility frameworks to address workforce shortages while promoting innovation and sustainable economic growth.
Deliberations also covered capacity building of trainers, integration of language training to support international mobility, and mechanisms to facilitate smoother recognition of vocational qualifications.
The two sides discussed strengthening ties between vocational education and training institutions, encouraging industry-led skill development initiatives and enabling flexible pathways that combine vocational training with academic qualifications.
Senior officials from both governments, including representatives from skill development, labour migration and vocational training bodies, participated in the discussions.
