India has the second largest workforce in the world after China: Labour Minister

New Delhi, Aug 11 (KNN) India has the second largest workforce in the world after China, Parliament was informed. The estimated employment aged 15 and above during 2013 is 46.35 crore people in India and 77.26 crore people in China.
 
As per the census of Central Government employees conducted by Directorate of Employment, Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Railways had 13.28 lakh regular employees during 2011, which was the largest share (43.02 per cent) of employees in the country followed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (25.95 per cent), Defence Civilian (12.16 per cent), Communication & IT (7.01 per cent) and Finance (3.37 per cent).
 
According to ILO’s estimates in the Key Indicators of the Labour Market, India has the second largest workforce in the world after China, Bandaru Dattatreya, the Minister of State(IC) for Labour and Employment has said in a response to a written question in Lok Sabha on Monday. (KNN Bureau)
