India placed on 62nd rank in Forbes doing business list, below Chile-Malta

New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN) Following the jump in the Ease of Doing business report of the World Bank wherein India climbed up to 100th rank from 130th rank, the Forbes list placed India at the low rank of 62 in its list of best countries to do business.

Countries including Costa Roca, Chile and Malta ranked better than in India in Forbes list.

United Kingdom topped the list in the light of positive economic indicators. Data reveal that UK’s GDP registered a rise of 1.8 per cent with the unemployment rates touching a 42-year low.

Following U.K in the list is New Zealand that maintains its spot for the third consecutive time.

Also Netherlands that was earlier placed on 9th spot jumped to the third rank in this year’s list.

Other top countries to do business include Sweden, Canada, Hong Kong, Denmark and Ireland.

Also Singapore and Switzerland made their way to good ranks in the Forbes list.

The India’s 62nd rank in the list comes in the backdrop of India doing well in World Bank’s ease of doing business report following which the government hailed the country’s progress towards attracting investments.

Forbes list takes into consideration different parameters including property rights, innovation, taxes, technology, corruption, freedom (personal, trade and monetary), red tape and investor protection. (KNN/ DA)
