India, Qatar Joint Commission Meeting Focuses On CEPA, FTA & Trade Cooperation

New Delhi, Oct 6 (KNN) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is on a two-day official visit to Doha, Qatar, to attend the meeting of the Qatar–India Joint Commission on Trade and Commerce from October 6–7, 2025.

The visit underscores the importance of India’s trade and investment ties with Qatar, one of its key economic partners in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Bilateral trade between the two countries was valued at over USD 14 billion in 2024–25.

Deliberations are also expected on the proposed India–Qatar Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and finalisation of the Terms of Reference (ToR) for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) aimed at deepening economic cooperation.

The agenda further includes collaboration in finance, agriculture, environment, tourism, culture, and healthcare, reflecting the growing scope of India–Qatar relations.

A business delegation comprising senior industry representatives is accompanying the Minister for the inaugural meeting of the India–Qatar Joint Business Council.

The delegation will also engage with Qatari entities including the Qatar Chamber, Qatar Financial Centre, Invest Qatar, and the Qatar Free Zones Authority.

On the sidelines, Goyal is scheduled to meet Qatari dignitaries, business leaders, and representatives of the Qatari Businessmen Association, as well as interact with the Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), and members of the Indian community in Qatar.
