Industry deliberates on innovative solutions to address global development challenges

New Delhi, Oct 19 (KNN) Industry body FICCI has organised an interactive session to deliberate on innovative solutions from India that could address global development challenges.

The event featured the speakers - Executive Director, US Global Development Lab at USAID, Ann Mei Chang  and USAID Mission Director to India, Ambassador Jonathan Addleton.

The session brought together key stakeholders from the social enterprise ecosystem to discuss how the new generation of social entrepreneurs is working at the grassroot level to convert challenges into opportunities.

It was conducted under the aegis of the Millennium Alliance Program, an inclusive platform to leverage Indian creativity, expertise and resources to identify and scale innovative solutions being developed and tested in India to address development challenges that will benefit base of the pyramid populations across India and the world.

The session also provided an opportunity to Indian entrepreneurs for exchange of ideas and experiences from the work of Global Development Lab across the globe.

Several innovators from the Millennium Alliance Program shared the impact they have been able to achieve as a consequence of their interventions in sectors as diverse as education, healthcare and financial inclusion which are high priority areas for the Indian government.

Senior Director, FICCI, Nirankar Saxena stated that "Millennium Alliance is a unique public-private partnership to provide financial, incubation and business development support to social enterprises from India and help them scale their innovative solutions across the developing world”.

A special screening of ‘Jugaad’, a film depicting frugal as well as disruptive innovations from India was done by SpringBox Films Private Ltd. (KNN Bureau)
