Greater Noida, Sept 16 (KNN)   Indian firms including small and medium enterprises can forge collaboration with Japanese companies in the area of power, taking advantage of the Japanese technology in the area of energy efficiency, Director of Overseas Trade Fair Division of Jetro, Atsuhiko Naoe said here.

Naoe was here participating in the three-day Renewable Energy India Expo, 2013 which provided a wide platform for exhibitors to attract huge investments from across the world, and concluded successfully here on Saturday, attracting more than 10,000 visitors.

In order to provide opportunities and exposure to Indian and Japanese companies for business development, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a non-profit official trade and investment promotion agency under the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) had set up a Japan Pavilion in the ‘7th Renewable Energy India Expo 2013.’

“We have brought some small and medium size Japanese companies to exhibit in India. We promote their businesses with the Indian companies. Both large companies as well as SMEs can collaborate with the Japanese companies, Naoe added.

“We are very satisfied with the reaction and outcome of this exhibition.  We will hold such B2B meetings in future also, and support the business activities between India and Japan,” he added.

With regard to the power crisis in India, Naoe said, “Indian economy has big problems about power consumption; the Japanese technology for renewable energy will be very useful for India.”

About 30 countries participated in the expo and were very optimistic about investing in the Indian renewable energy market.

There were also B2B meetings with companies from different countries for possible business opportunities and future business tie-ups.

“The idea behind holding the trade fair was to showcase Japanese technology in order to make India public aware of the technologies they can avail and also what financial model they can use and expect,” said Representative of NEDO in India, A M Siddiqui.

Siddiqui also said that though the Japanese products were expensive, they were reliable.

“Nedo has 10-12 projects which we can showcase to the Indian manufacturers and entrepreneurs. Though they are expensive in comparison to the Chinese technologies, they are much more reliable,” he added.

Some of the leading companies who exhibited in the expo were Hitachi, NEC, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Sony Energy Devices Corporation, Borg Energy, Suzion, Sterling and Wilson, Refex Energy, Applied Material and Enerparc Energy.

The companies had expertise in solar power, small wind, and small hydro and waste-to-energy sectors.

Some of these companies already have business ties with India while others are exploring the Indian market for the first time.

Among the countries that represented were Japan, Canada, China, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and Portugal. (KNN/SD)
