Mumbai, Nov 5 (KNN) Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, during the company’s ‘Future Unleashed’ event on Thursday, said Microsoft is eager to work with Indian e-commerce companies that enable small businesses to go global.

Microsoft’s India born CEO said the opportunity for India to change the future using digitalisation is tremendous and that the Internet giant is looking to play its "small role" in that future.

He said Indian start-ups and e-commerce space is one of the most exciting spaces in the world.

"Every time I come to India I'm captured by the entrepreneurial energy of India," Nadella said. He announced Microsoft is partnering with three Indian e-commerce companies Justdial, Paytm and Snapdeal to help them innovate with cloud and analytics.

The company is commencing a programme for start-ups that will create a single platform to bring together data in order to solve burgeoning urban problems using technology.
The CEO also announced a new initiative for start-ups delivering solutions for government's smart cities programme.

As part of this program, the company will work with start-up accelerators, and start-ups will be able to apply for individual access to funds up to USD 120,000 worth of Azure computing for their smart cities projects.

Addressing industry leaders and state government officials, Nadella said computing is the future and emphasized on the need of promoting the cloud and mobility in order to tap it.
Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft India, said, “Cloud and mobile technologies are already galvanizing Indian industry. At Future Unleashed, we will share these stories through our customers, solution partners and ISVs.”

“We will demonstrate that technology in the hands of brilliant people can create magic. That innovation is as much what you do with technology as the invention of the technology itself,” he added.

To drive innovation in the fast-evolving e-commerce industry, Microsoft has entered into broad-ranging agreements with JustDial, PayTm and Snapdeal. Microsoft will partner these e-commerce leaders in creating new marketplaces, new services and new experiences for their customers. Justdial, Paytm and Snapdeal will use a range of cloud and mobile technologies from Microsoft including advanced cloud services such as machine learning, Bing, Skype and Microsoft’s digital assistant, Cortana, to drive business innovation and customer delight.

Future Unleashed is Microsoft’s largest customer conference in India which brings together over 3,000 customers, business leaders, IT industry professionals, start-ups and developers in Mumbai. Another 100,000 are expected to attend the event virtually. At the conference, companies from Manufacturing, Automotive, e-commerce, Entertainment, BFSI and Retail sectors will demonstrate the breadth and depth of new technology. (KNN Bureau)
