MoS Muraleedharan inaugurates Rwanda-India Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Kigali

New Delhi, 20 Nov (KNN) The Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs of India  V. Muraleedharan, inaugurated the Rwanda-India Entrepreneurship Development Centre in Kigali, Rwanda on 15th November, 2021.

The Centre has been set up by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) with support of the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India towards developing Rwandan capacities and human capital.

According to Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, the Kigali Centre will strive to instil entrepreneurial culture amongst indigenous entrepreneurs, and equip them with adequate knowledge and experience.

"Along with entrepreneurship education, training and providing business advisory services, the Centre will also sensitize and train the support system officials, thus ensuring that a conducive business environment is created for emergence, sustenance and growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Rwanda,” he added.

Besides the Union Minister Muraleedharan, Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII; Puneet Roy Kundal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs and Mr. Oscar Kerketta, High Commissioner of India, Kigali, Rwanda were present on the occasion.

Post inauguration and placement of Advisor at the Centre, by EDII, the first New Enterprise Creation programme was launched in Kigali on 16th November.

30 potential entrepreneurs are attending this 18-day programme.

Simultaneously, EDII team in Rwanda is conducting Business Opportunity Identification Exercise and are developing at least 50 to 70 project profiles suited to local requirements and conditions.

This is the sixth international Entrepreneurship Development centre set up by EDII. Before this, the Institute has also set up Centres in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

The EDII was set up in 1983 as an autonomous and not-for-profit Institute in Ahmedabad by Government of Gujarat and apex financial institutions - the IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and State Bank of India (SBI).
