ODOP to get a boost in Bahrain Expo

Lucknow, April 13 (KNN) Handicraft and other goods being promoted by the state under its One District One Product (ODOP) scheme will now be displayed at the Indian embassy’s office in Bahrain. 

The possibility of holding a grand ODOP Expo in Bahrain was discussed during a virtual interaction with the Indian High Commissioner to Bahrain Piyush Srivastava and authorities at state MSME and export promotion. 

The agenda for the meeting was to explore possibilities of exporting ODOP items to the central Asian country. 

Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Navneet Sehgal said that in discussion with the higher commissioner it was clear that products like carpet, leather goods, handloom, marble inlay were in high demand there. 

Sehgal added that a delegation of artisans and entrepreneurs may be sent to Bahrain to promote ODOP goods. Srivastava was of the view that there will be many takers of items like itra and wooden handicraft. Food processing could also find takers in the region, he added. (KNN Bureau)
