New Delhi, June 19 (KNN) Stating that the trade between India and Tanzania of over USD 4 billion is heavily in India's favour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the visiting Tanzanian President Kikwete to open up more sectors for investments and exports for India.

“Indian investments in Tanzania exceed USD 3 billion and cover many areas. Indian investors are ready to invest more in Tanzania that would support Tanzania's development and trade,” Modi said in a statement.

Modi said that India has offered cooperation in the development of the potentially rich natural gas sector in Tanzania.

There were discussions on cooperation in the maritime sector and ocean economy.
“The agreement on hydrography is an important step forward in our cooperation in this sector,” he said.

India and Tanzania are pleased to be a partner in the development of human resources, healthcare, agriculture, institutions and infrastructure in Tanzania, he said.

PM assured President Kikwete that the development partnership between the two countries will continue, as our agreements today indicate.

Discussions on regional and global issues of mutual interest were also held. (KNN Bureau)
