PM Modi to Deepen Strategic and Economic Ties in the Indo-Pacific During Three-Nation Visit
New Delhi, Jul 6 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a three-nation visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand from July 6 to 11 to strengthen bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, defence, technology and people-to-people ties, while advancing India's engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Indonesia from July 6 to 8 at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto.
The visit follows the elevation of India-Indonesia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018 and President Prabowo's visit to India as the Chief Guest for the Republic Day celebrations in 2025.
During the visit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with the Indonesian President, interact with the Indian diaspora and visit the Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta, reflecting the longstanding cultural and civilisational ties between the two countries.
From Indonesia, the Prime Minister will travel to Melbourne, Australia, at the invitation of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Discussions are expected to focus on defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility, emerging and critical technologies, sports cooperation and strengthening people-to-people ties. Modi will also interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Australia.
The final leg of the visit will take him to Auckland, New Zealand, at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
The leaders are expected to review progress in bilateral relations following Luxon's visit to India in March 2025 and discuss ways to expand economic, trade and commercial cooperation, including implementation of the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement. Modi will also address the Indian community in New Zealand.
According to the Prime Minister, the three-nation tour is aimed at further strengthening India's Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision and commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
