President Lourenco Invites Indian Businesses To Leverage SADC & AfCFTA Through Angola
New Delhi, May 5 (KNN) Angola's President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco has extended a formal invitation to Indian businesses to explore strategic opportunities in the African nation, highlighting Angola's potential as a pivotal export hub.
During his official visit to India, President Lourenco addressed the India-Angola Business Forum, emphasizing several key sectors for bilateral cooperation.
The Angolan President underscored his country's advantageous geographic position, which offers privileged access to regional markets through the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
This strategic location presents significant logistical advantages for Indian businesses seeking to expand their export operations across Africa and beyond.
President Lourenco noted that Angola-India relations rest on a robust legal and institutional foundation developed through decades of cooperation.
The existing bilateral agreements spanning health, energy, financial services, and diplomatic mobility demonstrate both nations' commitment to a transparent and mutually beneficial partnership.
The Angolan leader specifically highlighted three priority sectors for enhanced collaboration: pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and renewable energy.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) President Sanjiv Puri addressed potential opportunities in Angola's robust mining sector, noting that Angola is Africa's third-largest diamond producer with significant repositories of critical minerals including copper, gold, uranium, lead, and zinc.
He advocated for joint exploration in diamond processing and critical minerals to develop value chains that could impact renewable energy and electric vehicle manufacturing sectors.
