Trade – MSME prime focus for member nations: ASEAN

New Delhi, August 9 (KNN) Highlighting the importance of closer ties between the member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the body said special focus should be laid on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Robespierre Bolivar, Foreign Affairs spokesperson, in a press interview said that the ministers from the member nations are keen in exploring integration opportunities in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise in order to move ahead with the economic integration plans.

The Body said that it is essential for the sector to go digital in order to be able to connect with their counterpart MSMEs in the other member nations.  Also there are plans of bringing in regulatory reforms the help the region become a digital economic block by the year 2025.

There is a need to facilitate free and transparent market for better prospects for the MSMEs of the member countries.

ASEAN further said that the larger vision of the member nations should be to ensure sustainable economic growth. The body observed that this could be possible only if there is a more liberal approach between nations

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was formed as a regional intergovernmental organization comprising of ten Southeast Asian nations including Thailand , Indonesia , Vietnam , Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore , Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei.  (KNN/ DA)
