Gurgaon, Sept 19 (KNN)  The first UK-India business centre opened here today with an objective to facilitate entry of British small and medium enterprises into India.

Supported by the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the British Business Group (BBGs), the centre was opened in the presence of visiting UK Minister for Trade and Investment Stephen Green and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hudda.  It will be run by UK-India Business Council (UKIBC) along with UKTI and BBGs.

“The centre will help British companies, especially, small and medium sized enterprises experience a low risk, low cost entry into India,” the British High Commission said in a statement.

In all, six such centres are planned in different parts of the country to promote UK business into India.

“The network of centres across India will drive a step change in the number of UK companies doing business in India, contributing to prosperity in both the countries,” Green said.

According to UKIBC Chair Patricia Hewitt, each centre will provide meeting, training, networking and conference space alongside advice and market entry services with a particular emphasis on SMEs wanting to get into the Indian market for the first time.

The centre comprises 7,200 sq feet. (KNN/PC)
