India is challenging the US which had approached the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the country’s policy requiring power producers to use locally sourced content under the JNNSM.
The scheme which is embroiled in a controversy on content between power project developers and solar PV equipment manufacturers will continue despite questions over the alleged issues relating to the WTO.
Despite these issues, GEDCOL wants to proceed with the power project in domestic content requirement category under ‘750 mw Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission Phase-II Batch-I of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI)’.
The corporation is inviting bids from domestic manufacturer for activities such as design engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of 20mw grid-connected crystalline photo voltac solar power plant at Rengali village of Angul district of Odisha.
In second phase of the mission, further capacity addition of 3,000 MW under Central Scheme is envisages through various schemes. The same will be implemented by the SECI in close association with the NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN). (KNN/ST)
