New Delhi, Mar 11 (KNN) The US–India Business Council has said India has a potential to become a global leader in all aspects of energy innovation.  As a first step, the US-India Energy Security Coalition will develop a strategic roadmap for collaboration between the Indian and US hydrocarbon and renewable energy industries. The roadmap will include opportunities for joint ventures, R&D, and training programs.

“Pioneering innovations have propelled the United States to become the world's leading producer of natural gas and a leader in alternative energy. There are now unprecedented opportunities for US companies to expand internationally and collaborate with India to meet its energy security goals,” USIBC said in a release.

To mark the international launch, the USIBC Coalition will host US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz along with senior officials from the Government of India and industry leaders in the national capital today, it added.

"The Coalition will serve as the premier platform to increase cooperation between the U.S. and Indian energy industries through a series of trade missions, procurement seminars, and policy roundtables," said USIBC Energy Director, Nolty Theriot.

"USIBC sees enormous potential for India to be a global leader in all aspects of energy innovation, and USIBC member companies are proud of the significant investments they have made in the Indian market," he continued.

As a first step, the coalition will develop a strategic roadmap for future collaboration between the Indian and US hydrocarbon and renewable energy industries. The roadmap will include opportunities for joint ventures, R&D, and training programs.

“USIBC was honoured to partner with the Department of Energy and Indian industry to host the industry portion of the 2012 US India Energy Dialogue in Washington, DC.

“The Council looks forward to working with the United States and India to identify tangible steps that both governments and industries can take to bring energy collaboration to the next level, including in unconventional and deep-water oil and gas exploration and production, the downstream oil and gas sector, and nuclear and renewable energy,” the release said.

"We believe that continuing the dialogue on energy between the United States and India will be increasingly important in the coming years as both of our countries enhance our collective energy security," said Theriot.

Formed in 1975 at the request of the US and Indian governments, the USIBC is the premier business advocacy organization advancing US-India commercial ties. Today, USIBC is the largest bilateral trade association in the United States, headquartered in Washington, DC, with liaison presence in New York, Silicon Valley, and New Delhi, comprised of more than 350 of the top-tier U.S. and Indian companies.  President and CEO of MasterCard, Ajay Banga is USIBC's chairman.
