USIBC hosts webinar for US SMEs on doing business in India

New Delhi, Dec 10 (KNN)  US India Business Council (USIBC) today hosted a webinar for US small and medium enterprises on the ABC’s of doing business in India.

“This interactive webinar on doing business in India for SME’s will provide a clear-eyed 2015 overview of the business-opportunity landscape for small and mid-size American companies seeking to do business in India, and practical advice as to how best to get started,” an official notification said.

Calling US SMEs to invest in India, USIBC said the time has never been better than now for entry into India.   

“India, with its population of 1.3 billion people, an increasingly affluent middle class, an activist new business-friendly government, and a revived appetite for investment, is again an ideal market for internationally ambitious companies to do business. Many large global multinational organizations have long been active and successful in India.

Increasingly, however new opportunities across many sectors have opened for smaller and mid-sized international companies. Many American, British, and German SMEs are already successfully selling their products and services into India,” it said.

The webinar, led by veteran US-India cross-border business experts provided a clear-eyed 2015 overview of the business-opportunity landscape for small and mid-size American companies seeking to do business in India, and practical advice as to how best to get started.

It included discussion of: an overview of the Indian market with emphasis on opportunities for US SMEs; how best to develop a cost effective route to market in India (B2B and B2C); what support networks can be leveraged by SMEs when entering India; identifying key challenges and pitfalls for SMEs in India, and how to avoid them; and key issues related to negotiating contracts with Indian companies.

In addition, it provided inputs on why and when to hire staff vs. using independent contractors; how to better ensure getting paid and getting profits out of India; how to build a sustainable and profitable long-term presence in India; and how best to take the first steps…where to begin, it said.

The webinar panel comprised of  Founder and CEO, Sannam S4 Consulting, Pvt Ltd, Adrian Mutton;  Acting President , US-India Business Council, Diane Farrell; Global Practice Head,  Kegler Hill Brown + Ritter, LLP Martijn Steger Partner, Kegler Hill Brown + Ritter, LLP Vinita Mehra; Senior Project Manager, International, DLZ Corporation Bruce Bauchmire.
