Walmart India conducts GST workshops for SMEs

New Delhi, May 24 (KNN) With the GST set to roll out from July 1st, the retail and wholesale chain Walmart have started conducting GST workshops for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that are partners with in the supply chain.

The SME partners of the company are being provided with assistance to help evaluate their goods and services tax compliance levels. It further intends to enable a mechanism in place for smooth transition into the new taxation policy.

In a press statement the company said that it has successfully launched proper training programs on the various aspects and nuances of the GST in several states including Ludhiana and Hyderabad.

Also similar workshops are lined up for other states such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Central India in the next few weeks before the  roll out of the One Nation One Tax Policy.

The statement further said that the workshops will enable the SME supplier partners to grow without any hurdles in the GST regime.

Krish Iyer, President and CEO of Walmart India said that Walmart runs successfully due to the important base of the company that is supported by the SMEs and the regional level suppliers, the GST norms for these operators might be a bit difficult, therefore the workshops will help educate them on the lines of GST compliances. (KNN/ DA)
