Bengaluru, June 23 (KNN) The United States (US) is considering to set up Consulate offices in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad which will help entrepreneurs and traders of both the states.

Currently the US has consulates in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata while India will open its sixth consulate in the US in Seattle.

Bengaluru and Ahmedabad are major cities which has large number of tech companies, textile units and other businesses.

The Bengaluru consulate will prove to be a boon for the city's techies and students in getting the US visas faster, said BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.

It will also help the business community of Bengaluru and the state as they would have easier access to US Consulate for visa work.

Karnataka always made a strong pitch with the US officials for a consulate office in Bengaluru, highlighting the strong business partnership between the west and the City. 

Many people from Bengaluru and other districts in the state travel to Chennai or Hyderabad for their visa needs.

Karnataka is also home to about 650 US companies, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs both in India and the US.

There about 100 US companies operating in India, about 90 firms including the leading technology firms such as Cisco, IBM, Intel, GE, HP and Oracle have significant presence in Bengaluru.  (KNN Bureau)
