26% of the total number of vendors registered on GeM are MSMEs: DIPP

New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN) Of the total number of vendors registered on Government-e-marketplace (GeM), 26% are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), said Suresh Kumar S, Additional CEO, Government eMarketplace (GeM).

He was speaking at the workshop on Trade through GeM being held at Global SME Business Summit.

“26% of the total number of vendors registered on GeM are MSMEs, out of which a whopping 50% are confirmed through Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM)”, Kumar was quoted as saying, in a tweet by Ministry of MSME.

He said that India has a very strong digital base today, and GeM is integrated with all the major digital platforms that exist in government.

Showcasing the GeM platform at the summit, Deputy CEO of GeM, Mayank Bisht said “GeM enables ease of doing business with government by reducing manual process & physical interaction.”

It facilitates online procurement which is inclusive transparent & efficient, he added.
