Centre Strengthens Green Manufacturing, Innovation Support For MSMEs

New Delhi, Aug 7 (KNN) The government is implementing a range of schemes to promote sustainability, innovation, competitiveness and green manufacturing among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje informed the Lok Sabha.

Government Expands Support For Sustainable And Competitive MSMEs

Responding to a question on human-centred entrepreneurship in MSMEs, the minister said the Ministry of MSME does not maintain information on themes chosen for the United Nations MSME Day, as these are determined independently.

She said the ministry is supporting MSMEs through several initiatives, including the MSME Champions Scheme, which comprises the MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification Scheme, MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme, and MSME Innovative Scheme covering incubation, design and intellectual property rights (IPR).

Green Manufacturing, Circular Economy Schemes Rolled Out

The government is also implementing the MSE Green Investment and Financing for Transformation (MSE-GIFT) Scheme and the Scheme for Promotion and Investment in Circular Economy (MSE-SPICE) to encourage green manufacturing, circular economy practices, quality improvement and innovation among micro and small enterprises.

According to the minister, these initiatives aim to help MSMEs develop globally competitive products and processes while enhancing their sustainability and productivity.

IndiaAI Mission To Accelerate MSME Innovation

Karandlaje added that the government's efforts are complemented by the IndiaAI Mission, implemented by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

It promotes the adoption of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies among MSMEs to strengthen innovation and technology-driven growth.
