Gujarat To GIS-Map Manufacturing MSMEs For Infrastructure Planning, Policy Formulation
Gandhinagar, Sep 18 (KNN) The Gujarat government is set to undertake GIS-based geo-tagging and mapping of manufacturing MSME units registered on the state’s Udyog portal to create a comprehensive database for infrastructure planning and policy formulation.
The exercise is being implemented by the state MSME Commissionerate under the Centre’s Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, with Gujarat Info Petro Ltd (GIPL) appointed as the nodal agency.
GIPL To Conduct Ground-Level Mapping
Authorised GIPL representatives will visit manufacturing MSME units across the state to geo-tag their locations and collect and verify relevant information, reported Times of India.
The MSME Commissionerate has urged MSME units and industry associations to cooperate with GIPL representatives and provide the required information for the exercise.
Data To Support Gati Shakti Planning
The GIS-based mapping is expected to create an integrated database of manufacturing MSMEs that can support infrastructure planning, policy formulation and more effective implementation of government schemes.
The mapped data will also be integrated with the PM Gati Shakti portal, enabling more data-driven planning and decision-making.
The exercise would help the government systematically identify the location and other details of MSME units and facilitate need-based infrastructure, support and services across the state.
