MSME Ministry Launches RAMP Programme in Chandigarh to Boost Sector Growth

Chandigarh, Sep 19 (KNN) Chandigarh witnessed a significant event on Wednesday as the Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), in collaboration with the Department of Industries (DoI), Chandigarh Administration, held a composite awareness workshop and launched the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative in the city.

This initiative aims to strengthen and enhance the performance of the MSME sector, a critical pillar of the Indian economy.

The workshop, which brought together key stakeholders from the region, was designed to promote awareness about the various schemes and support mechanisms provided by the Ministry of MSME.

The initiative seeks to mobilise stakeholders to actively engage in implementing the comprehensive Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) under the RAMP programme.

Vinamra Mishra, Director of General Administration and Training Programs (GA&TP), and Ankita Pandey, Director of International Cooperation and Women Entrepreneurship Cell (IC&WEC), represented the Ministry of MSME at the event. Both senior officials commended Chandigarh for becoming the first Union Territory to receive assistance under the RAMP programme, a testament to its commitment to fostering an enabling environment for MSMEs.

In her address to the gathering, Ankita Pandey underscored the critical role that the MSME sector plays in driving the Indian economy. "MSMEs are the backbone of our economy, contributing significantly to employment, exports, and innovation.

Through initiatives like RAMP and other government interventions, such as the Yashaswini scheme, we aim to promote holistic growth and enhance the global competitiveness of our MSMEs," Pandey said.

The workshop also provided a platform for generating awareness about the broad range of schemes and sub-schemes under the Ministry of MSME, including financial support, market linkages, and capacity-building programs.

These efforts are part of the Ministry’s broader push under the RAMP initiative to create a more vibrant, resilient, and competitive MSME ecosystem.

With this launch, Chandigarh is poised to lead by example in driving MSME growth, setting a new benchmark for other states and Union Territories across the country.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to accelerate MSME performance and unlock the sector’s full potential.
