SIDBI Opens Cluster Development Branch In Tripura To Boost MSMEs
Agartala, May 28 (KNN) Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has inaugurated its Cluster Development Branch at Udaipur in Tripura as part of efforts to strengthen the MSME ecosystem, promote entrepreneurship and enhance financial inclusion in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Department of Financial Services, SIDBI and other stakeholders, reflecting a coordinated effort towards regional economic development.
According to SIDBI, the initiative is aimed at supporting traditional and rural industries in Tripura, including handloom, handicrafts, bamboo-based enterprises and agro-processing sectors.
Focus On Rural Industries And Women Entrepreneurs
The institution also announced support for women-led pottery livelihoods through machinery assistance and skill development programmes.
In addition, SIDBI extended support for the establishment of a Common Facility Centre focused on aromatic plant distillation, along with specialised training programmes intended to enhance local entrepreneurial capabilities.
Digital Lending Initiatives To Improve MSME Credit Access
As part of its financial inclusion initiatives, SIDBI also introduced digital loan sanction systems in Tripura to facilitate faster and more accessible credit support for MSMEs.
The bank stated that the interventions are designed to promote sustainable livelihoods, strengthen local enterprise ecosystems and support inclusive economic growth across the region.
The new branch is expected to play a key role in expanding access to finance and institutional support for micro and small enterprises in Tripura, particularly those operating in traditional and rural sectors.
