The survey was conducted by TMI Group, of 328 engineering graduates based.

The respondents were B.E/ B.Tech graduates from across engineering streams and with 0-5 years of work experience.

As many as, 90.8 per cent of the respondents said that they believe SMEs are good places to work. They said that in SMEs, employees have work-life balance, make friendly work-culture and grow fast in their careers.

However, over 53 per cent said that large companies are good places to work. They believe that large companies provide better benefits, structured growth opportunities and professional work culture.

Over 44 per cent feel that both large companies and SMEs are good options and come with their pros and cons. Surprisingly, 46 per cent of respondents think that large companies are not good workplaces. Unhealthy competition, lack of job security and long working hours are the reasons why they believe so.

"The findings come as a relief given the number of engineering graduates getting added to the pool of jobseekers every year and recruitments in large companies falling drastically,” T Muralidharan, executive chairman, TMI Group said in a statement.

“This is the right time for SMEs to highlight the advantages of working with the sector and the benefits they can provide to their employees,” he added. (KNN Bureau)
