Annual fair of countrywide artisans begins in national capital

The ten-day festival, Shilpostav 2014 began here on November-1, according to an official release from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (SJE).
“For progress of any section of society they should be financially independent. The Ministry of SJE is working towards empowering marginalized and disadvantaged artisans and in continuance of this Shilpostav 2014 has been organized,” said Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Sudhir Bhargava who inaugurated the event which will continue until the 10th of this month.
The range of products in this fair includes - silk sarees, durries, readymade garments, terracotta products, jute products, dress material, Kashmiri shawls/stoles, leather, cane and bamboo products, hand embroidery, bead products, pearls, imitation jewellery, lac products, decorative candles, wood carving, block printing, wooden toys, tie and dye, wood, marble artefacts, handloom etc.
He said the artisans have been assisted by the apex corporations, namely - National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), National Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), National Safai Karamchari Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC), while the National Trust will display and sell their products.
The national organizations under the Ministry have also taken the opportunity to showcase their schemes and facilities. (KNN/ES)
